Dhaka – Bangladesh has been mulling for the option to suspend movement of inter-district vehicles to prevent spread of the novel coronavirus despite the fact that the country has still a low infection rate.
“We will suspend movement of inter-district vehicles, if need arises,” Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Wednesday.
He said transport owners are frustrated with the decrease in the number of passengers, more are expected to decrease. Situation will make it happen, if needed measures will be taken.
Bangladesh has so far detected 10 coronavirus patients, most of whom are Bangladeshis returned from abroad recently and their families. Community infection was yet to be reported.
The minister said the enemy virus is dangerous. “But our unity is stronger than that of the enemy. It is preventable and we hope we will be able to defeat the enemy,” said the minister at a news briefing at his office in Bangladesh Secretariat. newsnextbd.com/n
