Coronavirus: Bangladesh’s third infected person tested negative

Dhaka – Bangladesh has tested negative the third infected coronavirus patient after the two others recovered from the illness earlier this week.

“Now… I can share good news with you. The third infected person has also been tested negative, and therefore, there is no coronavirus patient in Bangladesh,” Meerjady Sabrina Flora of of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) told a news conference on Saturday.

Bangladesh on Sunday detected two men, who returned recently from Italy, and a woman, a family member of one of the Italy returnees, infected with the deadly coronavirus.

They had been undergoing treatment at a Dhaka hospital. Of them, one left the hospital after he was tested negative for twice. The second patient was also tested negative twice, but he did not leave the hospital as one of his family members was at the hospital with still positive on the first test. The third patient was tested negative on Friday.

But the IEDCR director did not say when the patients will be able to leave the hospital.

She, however, called the people to remain alert about the global pandemic. Flora empathized for home quarantine for the people who have recently travelled abroad.

The institute examined sample of 24 people in the last 24 hours ended in the morning. None of them were found positive. Nine persons have been in isolation in hospitals while four others were institutional quarantine.
