Bangladeshi man contacted coronavirus in Singapore is ‘very critical’

Dhaka – The condition of one of the five Bangladeshi man contacted the novel coronavirus in Singapore is stated to be “very critical”, foreign ministry said in Dhaka on Wednesday.

A foreign ministry statement said the Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Blakrishnan conveyed the message to his Bangladeshi counterpart Abul Kalam Abdul Momen by phone in the morning.

The 39-year old man, having respiratory and kidney problems, has been in intensive care unit for the last 13 days, the ministry said. The man had been suffering from pneumonia and kidney diseases before he got infected with the covid19.

The authorities in Singapore have taken appropriate measures for the treatment of the Bangladeshi nationals infected with the virus, the Singapore minister said adding that his government were taking care so that the remaining Bangladeshis are not get infected.

Momen thanked his Singaporean counterpart saying that Bangladesh has full confidence on the medical treatment in Singapore.

More than 2,000 people died and over 70,000 others contacted the virus worldwide after the covid19 outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan. Bangladesh, earlier in the month, flew out 312 of its citizens from the locked -down Wuhan, the epicenter of the epidemic .
