Fire at plastic factory kills one, injures 30 in Keraniganj

Dhaka – At least one person was killed and more than 30 others wounded after a fire broke out at a plastic product producing factory near the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Wednesday, police said.

The fire broke out at Prime Pet and Plastic Industries at Chunkutia of Keranignaj sub-district, located a few kilometers away from the capital city, in the afternoon, officer Ramnada Sarker said.

Fire-fighters rushed to the scene soon after the fire incident was reported. They brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts, the officer said adding that 30 workers of the factory who sustained burn injuries were transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The fire-fighters could not ascertain the reason behind the fire. An investigation was launched into the incident.
