Dhaka – Police have detained three suspected militants at a den in Narayanganj after they cordoned off two homes on information that the suspects had amassed huge explosives.
Officer Monirul Islam said the members of the counter-terrorism unit launched the raid suspecting that the members of a faction of Jamaatul Mujahedeen Bangladesh (JMB), responsible for many terrorist attacks in Bangladesh, had collected the explosives from this den to carry out recent attacks on police.
The detainees are identified as Fariduddin Rumi, Jamal Uddin Rafiq and Jannatul Foara.
He added a bomb disposal unit of the police department has reached the scene near Takkarmath in Fatullah of the city. They have been working to defuse explosives.
Earlier, the law enforcers evacuated residents from the area.
