Dhaka – The demand for resignation of the vice chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University has spread further as students from other universities joined the protests to condemn the derogatory remarks made by the VC about by the demonstrators.
A group of former and current students of the science technology university formed a human chain on Dhaka University asking Professor Khondoker Nasiruddin to step down.
They alleged that the VC was trying to cling to office immorally despite the fact that he was accused in corruption and other misdeeds, including calling the protesting students ‘animals’.
The students of the BSMRSTU have been continuing demonstration on the campus in the south-western district of Gopalganj, for the fifth-straight day despite the fact that the authorities snapped the power and water connections at the university.
The authorities have announced 10-day vacation of the university.
In Chittagong University, students under the banner of General Students of CU held a rally at the university Shaheed Minar premises. Similar protests were seen on the Jagannath University and Barishal University campus to press home the demand for resignation of Nasiruddin.

On Saturday, at least 20 students sustained injuries after outsiders carried out an attack on the protesters. The university formed a three-member committee to investigate the alleged attack. Science faculty Dean Professor Md Abdur Rahman was made head of the probe committee.
