Dhaka – Security will be beefed up at more than 30,000 makeshift worship temples across Bangladesh to maintain order and ensure smooth celebration of Durga Puja, the largest Hindu religious festival, beginning early next month.
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion, police and other lawe enforcement agencies including plainclothes ones will be deployed at the places of worship and celebration, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Wedensday.
This year the Duraga Puja will be celebrated from October 4 to 8.
Close circuit television cameras (CCTVs), archways and metal detectors will be installed at all celebration areas, the minister said adding that the intelligence agencies will remain alert to thwart any attempt of trouble-making.
Women volunteer groups, fire service, river police and local volunteers will also be deployed at the worship center.
“Tough action will be taken against eve teasers, if found any, during the celebration,” the minister said.
