Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked all concerned to ensure civic amenities in the villages as her government was relentlessly working for rural enhancement in Bangladesh.
“The civic amenities should be ensured not only in upazila and the ward levels, but also in each of the villages,” the Prime Minister said while witnessing a presentation in Dhaka on a land acquisition and bio-diversity preservation plan.
The plan was prepared for the areas adjoining to the memorial complex of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara of south-western Gopalganj district.
Local Government Engineering Department will implement the project at a cost of over 395 crore taka in the next four years.
Hasina said her government has been working to make all the villages beautiful in a planned way by ensuring all the civic amenities alongside protecting bio-diversity.
“It is needed to arrange all the villages across the country in a beautiful manner by protecting bio-diversity and ensuring civic amenities to build ‘Sonar Bangla (Golden Bangla)’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said.
Development programme should be taken considering of protection of arable lands, she said.
The Land Acquisition and Bio-diversity Preservation Plan in Tungipara is part of the “Important Urban Infrastructure Development Project (2nd Phase)” involving 3465.50 crore taka.
The project is being implemented in 281 municipalities since January 2018.
Under the project included road development, construction of bridge, culvert and drains, land acquisition and rehabilitation, preservation of bio-diversity, digging canals, reconstruction of river banks, renovation of ponds/lakes/canals, beautification, tree plantation, and other infrastructure development. It also included installation of street lights.
