Dhaka – Nearly three weeks after India revoked a constitutional provision that allowed Indian controlled Jammu and Kashmir a special status, neighbouring Bangladesh on Wednesday said that it was an internal issue of India.
India on August 5, scrapped the Article 370 of its constitution creating tension with arch rival Pakistan. Both Pakistan and India fought war over the Muslim-majority Kashmir in the past.
“Bangladesh maintains that the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian Government is an internal issue of India,” said a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.
It also added that Bangladesh had always advocated, as a matter of principle, that maintaining regional peace and stability, as well as development should be a priority for all countries.
