Dhaka – The cabinet headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is getting its second reshuffle Saturday after she assumed office in January this year with promotion of a junior minister and induction of a new face, a top official said on Thursday.
Imran Ahmed, state minister for expatriate welfare and overseas employment, has been promoted to a full minister while a leader of the ruling Awami League’s women chapter, Fazilatunnesa Indira, was picked up as a state minister.
Swearing in of the state minister will take place on Saturday at Bangabhaban in the evening, cabinet secretary Shafiul Alam told reporters.
Five months into her third-straight tenure in office, Hasina reshuffled her cabinet in May reducing role of Md Tajul Islam, who was in charge of the Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry. Islam was given the charge of Local Government Division.
At that time Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister, Mustafa Jabbar, was made Minister for the Posts and Telecommunications Division.
He was removed from the Information Technology division and State Minister for Information and Communications Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was given responsibility for the Information and Technology Division as state minister.
Murad Hassan was made state minister for the Information Ministry instead of his previous role in Health and Family Welfare ministry.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Shawpan Bhattacharjee was given the charge of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division.
