The suspects are believed to be the members of banned Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team, additional deputy commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan police Nazmul Hossain said.

He said the detectives, acting on a tip off, picked up the suspects identified as Forhad, a former student of Chittagong University’s Chemistry Department, and two of his associates Imraan and Ahmed Rony from Karnaphuli, Pahartali and Patiya areas.

Two laptops, some jihadi books and mobile phones were seized from their possessions, said officer.

The law enforcement enhanced security vigilance after the last month’s terrorist attacks in Dhaka and Sholakia that left more than 30 people killed.
