Hamid to attend Modi’s swearing in to office as Indian Prime Minister

Dhaka – Bangladesh’s President Abdul Hamid will join the swearing in of Indian Prime Minister as Narendra Modi is set to assume office for the second consecutive tenure on Thursday.

Hamid is scheduled to leave Dhaka for New Delhi on Wednesday on a three-day visit to India.

“President’s three-day India visit will start on Wednesday,” President Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin said.

Hamid will also pay a courtesy call on his Indian counterpart Ram Nath Kovind, he added.

The Indian President will administer the Oath of Office and Secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of Union Council of Ministers on May 30 at 7 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party managed a landslide victory in the 13th Lok Shabha electing, result of which was published on May 23 after a seven-phase voting across India.

Indian president appointed Narendra Modi as Prime Minister after Modi’s BJP-led National Democratic Alliance managed the sweeping victory.
