Dhaka – Investigators have wrapped up the probe into the brutal murder of a teenage Madraasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi in eastern Bangladeshi district of Feni to press charges against 16 persons for their alleged involvement in the arson and murder.
The investigators will submit the charge-sheet to the court seeking trial of the accused, head of the Police Bureau of Investigation Banaj Kumar Majumder told a news conference in Dhaka.
Nusrat was killed in an arson attack after she had accused her Madraasa principal Siraj-ud-dowla of sexual assault in April. Her classmates called her at the rooftop of the religious school in Sonagazi of Feni and set fire on her in association with the outsiders. The 18-year girl sustained 80 per cent burns and was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries in April 10.
Nusrat’s death creates a social uproar across Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered immediate investigation.
Investigators say 92 people were made witnesses in the case.
