Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to begin her tri-nation visit on Tuesday with Japan being the first destination, where she is scheduled to hold crucial bilateral meeting with her counterpart Shinzo Abe.
During her 12-day trip, Hasina will attend a conference in Saudi Arabia and on the final leg of the visit she will be in Finland, where she will call on the Finnish president, according to her tour itinerary.
The prime minister will be in Japanese capital Tokyo from May 28 to 31. She is scheduled to address the 25th International Conference on Future Asia and hold a number of bilateral talks including with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe. She will also attend a signing ceremony there.
Hasina will join a Bangladeshi community reception to be hosted in her honour, meet with the family members of the Japanese victims of the 2016 Holey Artisan attack and Japanese business leaders.
The premier will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Haneda International Airport, Tokyo in the morning Tuesday by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
She is scheduled to leave Tokyo for Jeddah on May 31. During her three-day stay in Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister will attend the opening ceremony of the 14th session of the OIC’s “Makkah Summit: Together for the Future” in Makkah on May 31.
She will also perform Umrah.
Hasina will visit Finland from June 3. She will pay a courtesy call on president of Finland on June 4.
Hasina will attend the Nikkei Conference at Imperial Hotel where Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Bin Mohammad will give the keynote speech on May 30.The 25th International Conference on the Future Asia will be held at the same venue where she will deliver her speech.
Japan International Cooperation Agency president Shinichi Kitaoka will call on her at her place of residence.
The Prime Minister is expected to return to Dhaka on June 8. On her way back to Dhaka she will make a brief stopover in New Delhi.
