3D pedestrian crossing introduced in Barishal City

Barishal – Barishal City Corporation has introduced three-dimensional pedestrian crossing for commuters’ safety, officials said.  

Mayor Serniabad Sadik Abdullah inaugurated the 3D road marking work at Zilla School-Barishal Club – Rajabahadur Road-Police Line roads crossing of the city on early Saturday.

The mayor said he wants to mark the roads with 3D crossing at different parts of the City to ensure road safety. It will also prevent road accident, he said.

It is an experimental drive, if it proves fruitful then it would be introduced different roads and crossings of the city, added the mayor.

Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) deputy commissioner (traffic) Khairul Islam said this type of crossings may increase more visibility than traditional marking patterns.

He emphasized awareness for the both drivers and pedestrians.

BCC introduced the 3D zebra crossing for the first time in the country. It costs taka 900 per square feet and would be long lasting to be visible at least three years, the BCC official added.

Aminul Hasan Litu, managing director, Space Engineering Company, who implementing the work, said this type of zebra crossing newly introduced in Bangladesh to control speed and safe road crossing of the pedestrians for avoiding accident.
