Bangladeshi man shot dead by BSF on northern border

Dhaka – A Bangladeshi man was shot dead allegedly by Indian Border Security Force along the border in northern Bangladeshi district of Dinajpur, officials said on Sunday.

The shooting took place early Saturday leaving Muhammad Alam, 40, a resident of Kamdevpur village of Biral sub-district, dead on the scene, Border Guard Bangladesh official Mehedi Hasan said.

The Indian paramilitary troopers fired their guns when Alam, a cattle trader, was returning home from the bordering area. It was not clear why the BSF shot him down.
