Cabinet reshuffled, power of two ministers curtailed

Dhaka – Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina has reshuffled her cabinet curtailing power of two ministers, according to an official gazette notification issued Sunday.

Mustafa Jabbar, a technocrat minister who held the portfolio of Post, Telecommunications and Information Communication Technology, will now head only the Post and Telecommunication Division.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister Information and Communications Technology, will now look after the Information and Technology Division, according to the notification.

The portfolio of Rural Development and Cooperatives has been bestowed solely with Shawpan Bhattacharjee, the State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperatives Division while Tajul Islam who earlier held the portfolio of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives ministry.

Tajul Islam will now look after the Local Government Division.

This is the first reshuffle of the cabinet after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formed the government on January 7, 2019 after a landslide victory in the December 30 national election.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Murad Hassan has been made state minister for the Ministry of Information. Hasan Mahmud is the full minister of the Ministry of Information.
