Dhaka – The ruling Awami League has started selling party tickets among aspirants for the 11th parliamentary elections, scheduled to be held on December 23.
Obaidul Quader, the party secretary, inaugurated the sale of tickets with the purchase of nomination paper on behalf of party president Sheikh Hasina. Several hundred aspirants thronged to the party president’s office in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area as the programme began at 10 am.
Quader bought a nomination form for Hasina.
Aspirants have to pay 30,000 taka for each nomination from as the party fixed the price. The aspirants must face the party’s parliamentary board to secure the ticket for the next election.
Bangladesh’s Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda announced the schedule for election to 300 parliamentary seats. The voting date for the election is December 23. The aspirants must submit nomination papers by November 19. The election commission will validate the nominations after scrutiny on November 22. It fixed November 29 for withdrawal of candidature.
