Noakhali – At least 30 shops were gutted in a fire erupted at Choumuhani Bazar in Begumganj sub-district of south-western Bangladeshi district of Noakhali, officials said on Monday.
Choumuhani Fire Station officer Mohammad Salauddin told newsnextbd.com the fire broke out from a gas stove of the kitchen room of a sweet shop early Monday.
The blaze ravaged the adjacent shops.
Five firefighting units from Choumuhani, Maizdi, Sonaimuri and neighboring Laxmipur district doused the blaze after two and half hours of efforts, said the fire service official.
Stationary shops, furniture, electric and electronics shops are hugely damaged in the fire, said the official.
The victims claimed that the extent of damage could go up to worth approximately Tk 50 million.
