Dhaka – The recently-formed opposition alliance of former law minister Kamal Hossain has been expanded further with the joining of Krishak Sramik Janata League of Abdul Kader Siddique, also a dissident of the Awami League party.
Siddique on Monday announced his joining to the Jatiyoa Oikya Front as the opposition combine has been in a dialogue with the Awami League-led ruling alliance of Prime Minister Sheik Hasina on credible holding of the next general election, due by January 2019. .
His joining came following an offer from the Oikya Front, one of the major opposition alliances that accommodated Bangladesh Nationalist Party of former jailed prime minister Khleda Zia.
The front put a seven point demands, including dissolution of parliament, formation of an election-time administration and release of Khaleda Zia ahead of the election.
The alliance is likely to hold yet another round of meeting with the Prime Minister as its leaders say the first meeting on November 1 was not much fruitful.
