Dhaka – Bangladesh’s popular rock singer Ayub Bachchu died of a heart attack in Dhaka at the age of 56.
“He suffered a heart attack this morning,” an official of private Square Hospital, Mirza Nazimuddin, told reporters at the hospital.
Bachchu, a prominent singer, composer and lyricist, was found in an unconscious state at his Maghbazar residence in the morning.
His driver transported him to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
The founder of band LRB (Love Runs Blind), Bachchu is loved by a huge number of fans across Bangladesh. He had been ill for few days. He was also a leading guitarist in Bangladesh.
Born in Chattogram in 1962, Bachchu worked for the bands Feelings and Souls before he began his own LRB band.
Fans, musicians and cultural figures rushed to the hospital after news of his death spread in the city.
The funeral prayers of the singer will be held at the Eidgah ground after Friday’s prayers, family sources said. His body will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar premises at 10.30 am Friday to facilitate people from all walks of life to pay tribute to the singer.
