Dhaka – Gana Forum chief Kamal Hossain has formally forged alliance with opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party to contest Bangladesh’s next general election due by December this year.
With the formation of the alliance named Jatiya Okiya Front, its leaders put a seven-point charter of demands, including formation of an all-party administration after dissolution of parliament to oversee the election and release of all political prisoners.
The political prisoners include jailed former prime minister and BNP chief Khaleda Zia.
The alliance was announced through a news conference at the National Press Club. The conference was attended among others by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP standing committee members Moudud Ahmed and Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president ASM Abdur Rob, Nagarik Okiya chief Mahmudur Rahman Manna.
