Dhaka – At least two factory workers have been killed after an explosion ripped through a fan manufacturing unit of electrical company near Bangladeshi capital, police and firefighters said on Tuesday.
Firefighter Ashikur Rahman said the explosion occurred at the factory of National Fans Limited in Tongi industrial area, nearly 30 kilometers north of the capital Dhaka, at around 12 noon.
More than 30 other workers of the factory sustained burn injuries as the heath chamber of the fan manufacturing unit.
Police officer Kamal Hossain said that the identity of the workers could not be determined immediately.
Ten of the the critically injured workers were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while the others were being treated at a hospital in Tongi.
National Fans Limited, set up in 1979, is one of the private sector oldest ceiling fan manufacturing and supplying company in Bangladesh.
