Dhaka – Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Khaleda Zia has termed ‘nasty politics’ the sudden raid at her office in Dhaka’s Gulshan neighbourhood.
“Using police to raid opposition party office without any cause is exactly the kind of nasty politics we want to remove from the country,” tweeted the former prime minister on Sudnay.
Police on Saturday raided the Gulshan office of the BNP chief as the law enforcement had information that some subversive literatures were gathered at the office for distribution.
Police, however, did not get any material inside the office building located the Road No 86.
The BNP, the largest opposition party outside parliament, announced a nationwide agitation Sunday to protest the raid accusing the government of resorting to repression on the opposition.
The party alleged that the raid was conducted based on a complaint filed by an unnamed person. It was conspiracy against the party, said the party leaders.
