Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday called the students to stand guard against the menace of terrorism as she said a quarter has been trying to mislead the young generation in the name of Islam.
Islam is the religion of peace, but a section has been trying to mislead the students by indulging them to kill the people in the name of religion, she said.
They propagate that those who get killed in those missions in the name of religion will be in the heaven, said Hasina.
“Does anyone know whether they are in heaven? Those who resort to killing in the name of Islam are not truly Muslims,” the Prime Minister said while addressing a programme to mark the 69th anniversary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League party.
She also called upon leaders and activists of the student organization to go for education instead of acquiring wealth to lead the country towards proper direction.
“Education is the backbone of a nation. Obtaining education is a big responsibility of the members of Chhatra League. Education cannot be hijacked and uneducated people cannot lead the country properly,” Hasina said.
Hasina also asked the leaders and activists to read the biography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to sharpen their knowledge.
