Dhaka – US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal arrived in Dhaka on Sunday to discuss possible counterterrorism cooperation with Bangladesh.
The US official’s visit came in the wake of two terrorist attacks that killed more than 30 people in the capital Dhaka and northern district of Kishoreganj.
Officials at the foreign ministry said Biswal is expected to meet foreign diplomats in Dhaka, senior government officials and business leaders.
Deputy Assistant Secretary for South Asia Manpreet Singh Anand has been accompanying her.
After conclusion of her two-day visit to Dhaka, Biswal is expected leave for Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, to join meetings with senior government officials, political leaders, and civil society representatives to discuss bilateral economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and the US.
