Dhaka – Thirty-eight percent construction work of the Padma Multipurpuse Bridge has been completed, a senior minister said on Saturday.
“We have already finished nearly 38 percent of construction works according the project plan,” Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said while participating at an inaugural programme of 108th Branch of Trust Bank at Kabirhat upazila Parishad auditorium in the south-eastern Noakhali district.
The construction works of the bridge will likely be completed on due time as Bangladesh Army is helping to construct the mega-project, the minister hopes.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq, Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, MP, Mamunur Rashid Kiron, MP, GOC of Comilla region General Md Enayet Ullah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trust Bank Ishtiaque Ahmed Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Badre Munir Ferdous and Superintendent of Police (SP) Ilias Sharif were, among others, present on the occasion.
The Trust Bank, run by Bangladesh Army, has already been able to gain the public trust as it is playing a pivotal role for ensuring the economic and social welfare of the country, said Quader.
Mayor Annisul Huq received a mass reception on Kabirhat Government College field by the Noakhali district Awami League and local people.
