Bangladesh has received 500,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine developed and produced by Sinopharm of China, officials said on Wednesday.
A Bangladesh Air Force flight arrived in Dhaka the morning carrying the jabs, which the Chinese government gifted to Bangladesh.
Foreign ministry officials said the Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, Li Jiming, will formally hand the vaccines at a ceremony in Dhaka to two senior ministers.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Health Minister Zahid Maleque are likely to receive the jabs.
The Sinopharm vaccine is produced by Beijing Bio-Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (CNBG).
