Rangpur – The British Council has honoured 35 Bangladeshi schools with the International School Award for the 2015-16 educational year, officials said on Monday.

The awards were given under the connecting classrooms program of British Council. Nine were given full, seven intermediate and the rest were given the foundation award for their achievements.

Shakil Amanullah Sinha, Project Coordinator of Schools Programmes British Council said, ISA is a celebration and recognition of collaborative activities of schools.

It defines the shared activities of the partner schools between domestic and international on different aspects, especially on global issues.

He also said, around 3,000 schools of the country were registered with British Council in Bangladesh under the project. The organization offers face to face training and on-line courses to the teachers on different educational programs including 21st century core skills to improve professional skills and create internationalism among them.

Connecting Classrooms is a partnership journey between schools at home or abroad which develops networking and sharing the curriculum, extra-curriculum activities of schools and exchanging cultural values, tradition and heritage.

School Ambassador of British Council and International School Coordinator of Bogra Zilla School, Shafiqul Alam Bulbul who got full ISA award said, getting ISA award is a great achievement and honour for the school.

“We developed eight collaborative projects on different global issues with four schools. Of the schools two were international and the rest two were local schools,” he said.

International Coordinator Robertsongonj High School & College, Rangpur, Mohammad Shajahan, said, it’s a prestigious award for the school and an accreditation of internationalism.

ISA allows access to the world of learning, collaboration and culture.
