Business leaders urge govt to resolve problems in industrial sectors

Dhaka – A delegation of the business leaders of the various chambers and associations have urged the interim government to look into the problems in the industrial sectors and resolve them as quickly as possible.

The call was made at a meeting between the business leaders and the Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan at the latter’s office on Monday as slide in law and order and factory worker’s demonstrations in the industrial districts are common phenomenon nowadays.

The business delegation was led by Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) Anwar-Ul-Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) at the meeting, according to a press release.

Chowdhury highlighted the law and order situation, labour issue and other existing problems in the industrial sector and urged the all concerned to find out solutions to the problems in the ways of trade, commerce and industries.

The members of the business community projected sector-specific issues and problems before the Industries Adviser, who in response asked the authorities concerned to give immediate solutions, the press release said.

Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana suggested all concerned to hold yet another meeting to discuss the issues related to labour, law and order, banking etc.

Former FBCCI president Mir Nasir Hossain, BGMEA Administrator M Anwar Hossain, MCCI President Kamran T Rahman, DCCI President Ashraf Ahmed, Leather goods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh President Syed Nasim Manzur, Managing Director of Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Ltd Debabrata Mukherjee, Uttara Motor Corporation Ltd Chairman Motiur Rahman were present at the meeting among others.
