Yunus accords reception to Bangladeshi cricketers over Test victory against Pakistan

Dhaka – Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Thursday accorded reception to the national cricket for their 2-0 Test series victory against Pakistan in August-September 2024.
The chief adviser termed historic the victory against Pakistan as he welcomed the national team lead by Najmul Hossain Shanto. He said the whole nation is proud of the cricketers.
“I spoke to the captain after the victory but I was eagerly waiting to meet you all personally and congratulate you on behalf of the nation,” he told the players at his office in Dhaka.
Yunus reminded the players of the power of sports in uniting a nation and recalled his recent engagement in the Paris Olympics where he acted as an advisor and ambassador.
He told the players that he had been invited by Italy to play a similar role in the 2026 Winter Olympics to be hosted in Milano Cortina.
Shanto thanked the chief adviser Yunus for hosting the reception saying his words would encourage them to achieve further success.
“It will really inspire us,” he said.

The national cricket captain said the hard work of players and coaching staff were pivotal to their success in Pakistan.
Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, greeted the players for bringing success at a difficult time.
Newly-appointed Bangladesh Cricket Board President Faruque Ahmed, its director Najmul Abedin Fahim and Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury were, among others, present on the occasion.
