
Dhaka – Bangladeshi police on Sunday said that they arrested a person thought to be one of the masterminds of last year’s attacks that left one secularist publisher killed in Dhaka.
The members of the Detective Branch of police arrested Abdus Sabur alias Raju from Tongi area of Gazipur district for his involvement in the killing of Faisal Arefin Deepan and attacking Ahmedur Rashid Tutul and two others, according to police.
Jagriti Prokashoni owner Deepan was stabbed dead inside his office in Dhaka’s Aziz Super Market on October 31 last year.
Tutul of Shuddhoswar publication and two of his friends were knifed at his office in Lalmatia on the same day. Both were publishers of books by secularist writer and blogger Avijit Roy, who was also hacked to death on February 26 at Bangla Academy book fair.
