Actress Pori Moni has been granted bail in a case involving beating, vandalism, and intimidation filed by a businessman four years ago, after she surrendered before a magistrate court in Dhaka, officials said on Thursday.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman granted her bail on a bond of Tk 5,000 after hearing the case.

Nasir Uddin Mahmud, director of Dhaka Boat Club in Uttara, filed the case at Savar Police Station four years ago, accusing the actress of beating him and carrying out vandalism and intimidation at the club.

Pori Moni was scheduled to testify in the case on Wednesday. As she remained absent from the proceedings, the court cancelled her earlier secured bail and reissued an arrest warrant.

She sought time through her lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat Survī, that day. The plaintiff's lawyer, Abul Kalam Mohammad Sohel, objected and filed a petition to cancel her bail. The court then rejected Pori Moni's request for time and issued an arrest warrant against her.

The court set December 23 for the taking of testimony.

Earlier, on June 26, 2025, the trial began with the framing of charges in the case. As she was not present in the court that day, an arrest warrant was issued against Pori Moni. The next day, June 27, she surrendered before the court and was granted bail.

The incident began on the night of June 8, 2021, after Pori Moni went to Dhaka Boat Club Ltd. A few days later, at a press conference, Pori Moni alleged that she had been subjected to an attempted rape and an attempt on her life at the club that night.

When she filed a case against Nasir Uddin on June 13, Nasir was arrested. He was later released on bail. The trial of that case is ongoing at the Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.

Subsequently, on July 6, 2022, Nasir filed a case against Pori Moni in the court. His complaint was that Pori Moni had gone to the boat club and beaten and threatened him.
