Execution process starts after full verdict, says Attorney General

Dhaka: Attorney General Mahbubey Alam on Tuesday said that the government will start the process for executing war criminal Mir Quasem Ali after receiving the full order of the Supreme Court.

Soon after the announcement of verdict of Mir Quasem Ali, the Attorney General said after getting the order of the judgement, the jail authorities will inform Mir Quasem Ali about the verdict and whether he will seek presidential mercy.

He also told journalists that if Mir Quasem Ali wants to seek presidential mercy, his mercy application will be sent to the president and then the process for execution will be halted until the president gives a decision.

If Mir Quasem Ali does not seek presidential mercy or the present reject his mercy petition, the government can execute him anytime, he said.
