Dhaka – Police on Friday arrested the general secretary of opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s student wing after court issued warrants against him.
The lawmen picked Akramul Hasan, the second in command in the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, from Paltan area in the city, in the afternoon officer Shibly Noman said.
The officer said Hasan was arrested in line with the court order.
The student organisation said police picked up Hasan from near the National Press Club as he was on his way to join a gathering.
The organisation, in a press statement, condemns the arrest and demanded unconditional release of him.
