Dhaka – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said that the spy agencies had been working to trace the persons who had gone missing in the past.
The minister’s comment came at a time when a sense of fear gripped the people after mysterious disappearance of a businessman, a private university teacher and a journalist from Dhaka since October 10.
“We will need more time to detect the reason behind the disappearance. Our intelligence agencies have been working hard to this end,” the minister said after addressing a public programmed in Dhaka’s Mirpur.
He requested the media not portray the failure as negligence.
Several hundred students and friends, colleagues and university teachers of Mubashar Hasan, a North South University teacher who has been missing since November 7, gathered on Dhaka University campus to ask the government to expedite its efforts to find the teacher.
The protesters give an ultimatum of 72 hours to find the missing teacher.
Hasan, an assistant professor at the NSU, remained traceless for the last five days.
Utpal Das, a journalist of purbo-porshim online news portal, has been missing since October 10. He had reportedly gone missing from Dhaka’s Motijheel area.
