Dhaka – Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is due to arrive in Dhaka Sunday to hold talks with her Bangladeshi counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, officials said.
Swaraj is scheduled to join India Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission meeting to discuss over a number of issues between the two next-door neighbours.
The influx of Rohingya Muslims, who fled violence in Myanmar and took shelter in Bangladesh, will also be featured in the discussion during her two-day trip to Dhaka, according to foreign ministry officials.
Swaraj is also expected to meet the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Ganabhaban. Besides, she will also meet a number of civil society actors and leaders of different political parties.
This will be the second visit of Indian external affairs minister to Bangladesh after the State visit of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to India in April 2017.
The visit is expected to afford an opportunity for review of the excellent bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh and further strengthening of these ties, a press statement from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka said.
