Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has undergone a successful gallbladder operation at a hospital in Washington, a spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office said on Wednesday.
She is now completely well after the successful operation, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
Hasina, now in a visit to the United States, was taken to a hospital in Washington after she suddenly felt pain on her abdomen on September 25 night.
The physicians conducted the operation at the health facility.
Prime Minister asked for blessings from the countrymen for her early recovery, Karim said.
She has been taking rest at the advice of the doctors as she was relived from the hospital a day after the operation was conducted.
Hasina’ younger sister Sheikh Rehana and son Sajeeb Wazed Joy were by her side at the hospital.
Hasina left Dhaka for New York on September 16 to attend the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly. She has been staying in Washington after her engagement at the UN session completed.
The Prime Minister is rescheduled her return home on October 5 stead of previously set date on October 2.
