Dhaka – A civic group has reported a total of 90 custodial deaths in the first six months of 2017.
Ain o Salish Kendra, the organization working on rights, said among the victims 46 were killed in so-called cross-fire with police.
Rapid Action Battalion, a crime-busting force were blamed for 13 deaths while the eight fell victim to the detective branch of police, according to the organization’s compilation based on media reports.
The claim could not be independently verified immediately.
The organisatioin reported that torture and firing by the law enforcers left the rest of the victims killed.
Ain o Salish Kendra, which also compiles violence on women, reported that 280 women were raped during the reporting period. Sixteen of them were killed after rape incidents.
