Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday inaugurated an 18-storey residential complex for the judges of the Supreme Court.
The complex was constructed considering the safety and security of the judges as well as modern housing facilities for them.
Seventy-six well furnished apartments will be the residences of the judges of the High Court and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in Kakrail.
“Same steps are being taken at the district and upazila levels,” the Prime Minister said.
Referring to her steps for better judicial management, Hasina said the government is taking steps for trial of notorious criminals through video conference between the prosecution and the defence from courts and jails.
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha attended the function as special guest. Minister for Housing and Public Works Mosharraf Hossain was in the chair while minister for Law and Justice Advocate Anisul Haq was present as a guest.
Hasina unveiled the plaque of the 20-storied Judges Complex of 76 flats, built on 1.5 acres land in city’s Kakrail area.
In May 2011, the prime minister laid the foundation of the complex built at a cost of around Taka 174 crore.
