Hasina urges people to elect her party in every future elections

Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged electors to vote for her ruling Awami League party in the next general elections scheduled before January 2019.

Hasina, also the chief of the party, made the call at a rally organized by the local Awami League in the south-eastern district of Laxmipur. Prior to the rally, she inaugurated a number of development project in the district.

The Prime Minister called the people to keep trust on her party that has been serving the country for nearly two consecutive terms in office since 2009.

“We hope you would give us an opportunity to serve you by making our candidates victorious in all elections in the future,” she said.

The Awami League has already proved that work for the welfare of the people could be done if there is an intention, she said adding that the party knew well how to ensure development for the people.

“We want the country to be developed and prosperous … let’s build the country together. We have a firm belief that we could be able to achieve the goal,” she said.

She said she has dedicated her life to the interest, welfare and development of the people.

“It is my promise that, if needed, I would also sacrifice my life like my father for establishing Bangladesh as a developed and prosperous nation in the world.”

She added that her government has been working tirelessly to maintain peace and security for the people and build Bangladesh by upholding the spirit of the Liberation War, according to state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha news agency.

Hasina, in her first visit to the southeastern district after 1997, inaugurated 10 development projects and laid the foundation stones of 17 others by unveiling plaques at the stadium.

General Secretary of party and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader, Shajahan Kamal MP and other central and local Awami League leaders spoke at the meeting.

District AL president Golam Faruk Pinku presided the rally.
