Satkhira – A freedom fighter has been killed in south-western Bangladeshi district of Satkhira, said police on Tuesday.
Sixty-year-old Abul Kalam Azad was beaten to death at Ghona Bazar in Sadar sub-district of the district in the early hours of the day, said officer Firoz Hossain
Azad hailed from Ghona village and owner of a construction tools shop, he added.
Local man Mominul and along with his cohorts beat Azad indiscriminately as Mominul locked in an altercation with Azad over money-related affair, he said.
Blood-spattered Azad was sent to Satkhira General Hospital where the on-duty doctor announced him dead, the police office said.
The deceased’s son lodged a murder case with Sadar police station against seven people, Hossain said.
The lawmen arrested four suspects, including Mominul in connection the killing.
