Dinajpur – Unidentified criminals have killed a guard of a Christian mission school in northern Bangladeshi district of Dinajpur, said police on Thursday.
The incident occurred at Awliapur area of the district, 278 kilometers away from the capital Dhaka on Wednesday night, leaving Sukumar Soren, 48, dead, said officer Redawanur Rahim.
Soren returned to school Wednesday from leave, said the officer adding that a group of thieves entered the school at midnight.
He added sensing the presence of the burglars, the guard tried to stop them from stealing but the assailants stabbed him with sharp weapons and fled the scene immediately, said the officer.
Sukumar rushed to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where the physicians announced him dead, he said.
Police launched an inquiry in connection with the killing, said Rahim. None was arrested yet in this regard.
