Dhaka – Police detained at least 30 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling Awami League, after they locked in infighting at Chittagong University located in the southeastern port city of Chittagong.
The lawmen also seized 30 machetes while conducting a raid at Shahjalal Hall and Shah Amanat Hall of the varsity, officer Rezaul Masud told reporters on Saturday.
Police detained the BCL men following a clash between followers of BCL CU unit president Mohammad Alamgir Tipu and those of general secretary Fazly Rabby Sujan over establishing supremacy on the campus, said campus sources.
Sujan alleged, “Police attacked our activists during the raid.”
“We will go for a tough movement if actions are not taken against the policemen,” he added.
