Dhaka – Four suspected activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have been arrested from a school in southwestern Bangladeshi district of Jhenaidah, said police on Thursday.
Police picked up the four from Rudrapur primary school in Courtchadpur of the district, officer Ahmed Kabir Chowdhury said.
The Jamaat men are identified as Abdus Sabur Khan (50), a resident from Laxikunda village, Mizanur Rahman (30), a resident of Talshar Adarshapara village, Nazrul Islam (50), of Gurpara village and Billal Hossain (32),of Bahrampur village of the district.
Law enforcers carried out a raid following information that a group of Jamaat men was holding a secret meeting at the school, said the officer.
Five hand bombs were seized at the spot, he said adding that some of the Jamaat men managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the policemen.
